Why you'll love this recipe
This delicious recipe for Iced Lavender Oat Milk with Dragonfruit pieces is based on Starbucks' new Lavender Oat Chill drink.
It is:
Easy to make: with a few minimal ingredients, you can easily make this drink in the comfort of your home.
Caffeine-free: for those days you don't want tea, coffee or a lavender oat latte, this drink doesn't contain any caffeine.
Dairy-free: this drink is made with creamy oat milk, so there's no dairy milk in it.
Delicious: the floral and fragrant lavender flavor pairs incredibly with the creamy oat milk, and sweet dragon fruit pieces.
Ingredients you'll need for lavender oat chill
- purple lavender syrup: for the vibrant purple color in this drink, you'll need to use a purple colored lavender syrup; Note: Starbucks uses a purple-colored lavender powder mixed with sugar, so it is much easier to make a lavender syrup than to find ground lavender powder
- oat milk: you can use any oat milk that you enjoy
- ice cubes
- pink dragon fruit: also known as pitaya; you can use freeze-dried pieces, fresh dragonfruit (peeled), or frozen, cut into smaller pieces
Where to buy?
You can find these ingredients at your local grocery store.
Find fresh or frozen pink dragonfruit in Asian or ethnic supermarkets. You can find freeze-dried dragon fruit packaged online or in specialty food stores.
How to make Starbucks lavender oat chill drink
Combine lavender syrup, ice cubes and oat milk in a tall mason jar.
Cover and seal with a tight fitting lid and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds, until the milk is frothy.
Pour the mixture into a serving glass and top with dragonfruit pieces.
Stir or gently swirl the drink and enjoy.

What to serve with it
Pair the Lavender Oat Milk drink with Lemon Lavender Pound Cake, or Matcha Blueberry Yogurt Cheesecake Bars.
Can I make it warm?
Warm up the oat milk (microwave or over the stove), froth it up with an electric frother or steamer wand, and omit the ice. Add in the dragonfruit pieces and enjoy.
Expert tips
The drink may at first appear bluish-purple, and then once the dragon fruit/pitaya bleeds into the drink, it will turn more lilac/magenta in color.
For more lavender flavor, add lavender cream cold foam to the drink.
Or for a more luxurious feel, try it with vanilla sweet cream cold foam instead.
