Why you'll love this recipe
This Lavender Oat Latte is similar to my Iced Doppio Espresso with Oat Milk combined with my Iced Lavender Honeycomb Latte, which was also another Starbucks (Canada) limited time offering that dated back to 2019.
This version is:
Easy to make: with only a few ingredients, you can easily make this in the comfort of your home.
Uses lavender syrup: Starbucks uses a lavender powder for this particular drink, which I believe is mixed with sugar, similar to their matcha powder. Lavender powder is made of finely ground up lavender and is not easy to get a hold of, so using lavender syrup is a more accessible way to make this drink.
Economical: it's much more cost-efficient to make this drink at home, once you've got all your ingredients.
Ingredients you'll need
- lavender syrup: you can use homemade lavender syrup or store-bought
- espresso: cooled; or strong coffee -- choose one that you enjoy! Tip: use Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast for an exact duplication
- ice cubes
- oat milk: there are lots of different oat milks out there; choose one that you like to drink; note: if you're making this drink hot, you'll want to choose an oat milk that froths up nicely
Where to buy lavender syrup?
Find lavender syrup online, specialty baking stores or at farmer's markets.
How to make it
In a tall glass, add in lavender syrup (step 1), ice cubes (step 2), espresso (step 3), and top with oat milk (step 4).
Stick in a straw, give it a stir and enjoy.
Variations & substitutions
To make the drink hot, omit the ice cubes and gently heat up the oat milk (you can do this over the stove, or in the microwave).
Use a handheld electric frother to add a little foam to the warmed oat milk.
I know the drink name calls it an oat latte, but you can certainly substitute with any other milk or non-dairy alternative of your choice: try using almond milk, soy milk, whole milk, or coconut milk.
You can use a strong, cold brew coffee in place of espresso.
If you want to make a caffeine-free variation, try this Lavender Oat Milk with Dragonfruit (Starbucks Lavender Oat Chill).
If you're feeling luxurious, add a touch of lavender cream cold foam or vanilla sweet cream cold foam on top.
Notes
Depending on how strong your lavender syrup is, you may need to adjust according to your taste.
Start with a little lavender syrup and adjust to your liking.
I used cane sugar in my lavender syrup, which gives the syrup more of a darker hue.
