Why you'll love this recipe
This recipe for Lavender Cream Matcha Tea Latte is based on the offering at Starbucks and is:
Easy to make: it's as simple as making an iced matcha latte, topped with a fragrant lavender sweet cream cold foam.
Not too sweet: the vegetal flavor from the matcha tea pairs well with the floral flavor from the lavender and is not too sweet. Note: Starbucks uses a lavender powder (with sugar) for their lavender cream cold foam, which can make the drink super sweet.
Naturally-colored: the bright green from the matcha and the light purple hue are all-natural.
Cost-efficient: it's much more economical to make it at home, and it tastes even better than Starbucks!

Ingredients you'll need
- matcha powder: sifted; choose a high-quality matcha for the best color and flavor
- hot water: about 80C/176F; not boiling hot water
- oat milk: choose one that you enjoy drinking; you can also use any other type of milk or non-dairy alternative
- ice cubes
- lavender cream cold foam: you can make it at home easily; it is similar to vanilla sweet cream cold foam, only that it is flavored with lavender syrup
Where to buy?
You can find these ingredients at your local grocery store or online.
How to make it
In a mug, sift in matcha powder and pour in hot water.
Whisk the matcha with a chasen (bamboo whisk) or electric frother.
Add ice cubes to a tall glass.
Pour in the prepared matcha.
Next, pour in oat milk and top with lavender cream cold foam.
Stick in a straw, give it a stir and enjoy immediately.

Substitutions
You can use any type of milk or non-dairy alternative, such as whole milk, soy milk, almond milk, or coconut milk.
Theoretically this drink is not dairy-free as the lavender cold foam is made with cream.
Make it hot: use ½ C hot water to prepare the matcha, warm the milk (add foam if desired) and omit the ice cubes.
Expert tips
Matcha is best prepared with water that isn't too hot. The water temperature should be about 80C or 176F.
When pouring the cold foam on hot drinks, the foam will sink and mix into the drink quickly.
To attain a more distinct layer of lavender cold foam, you can strain the matcha through a sieve and discard the bubbles before pouring into your glass. As the prepared matcha does have some foam, the two layers can intermingle quickly.

This Lavender Cream Matcha Tea Latte sounds like the perfect blend of floral sweetness and earthy matcha goodness! I love that it's inspired by the Starbucks version but with a homemade twist that's not overly sweet. Plus, the natural colors from the matcha and lavender make it even more appealing. Thanks for sharing this delightful recipe.

Thanks Raymund, I love making the lavender cream foam at home to top off the drink since I enjoy bolder floral flavors! 🙂
