Why you'll love this recipe
Inspired by other fruity matcha drinks, such as Strawberry Matcha Latte, and Iced Matcha Pineapple this Mango Matcha Latte is:
Easy to make at home: you'll only need a few simple ingredients and no fancy equipment required.
Delicious: the sweetness of ripe mango pairs well with the grassy notes of matcha for a perfectly balanced drink.
Beautiful: this café-style layered latte is vibrantly stunning as it is delicious.
Customizable: if you like a smoother texture, use mango puree instead of diced fresh mango.
What is matcha?
Matcha is a green tea made from finely milled tea leaves.

What is a mango matcha latte?
Typically, a mango matcha latte is a beverage made with mango purée or mango juice, topped with milk and whisked matcha green tea on top.
The result is a refreshing drink that is creamy, earthy and softened by the fruitiness and natural sweetness of mango.
How to choose mango?
Check the ripeness: gently squeeze the mango, if it feels firm, it's unripe. If it gives a little, it's ripe. And if it's very squishy, then it's overripe.
Check for aroma: fresh mango will have a sweet, fruity smell to it.
Check the texture: Avoid wrinkled or flat mangoes.
Ingredients you'll need
- fresh ripe mango: preferably Ataulfo or Champagne mango; finely diced into small pieces; or you can puree the mango in a blender for a smoother texture; or try mango juice instead
- granulated sugar: optional; adds sweetness if your mangoes aren't super sweet
- milk: of your choice; or non-dairy alternative
- ice
- matcha: sifted, use a high-quality ceremonial matcha for the best flavor and color
- hot water: for the matcha; about 175F/80C

Expert tips
Use ripe, sweet mangoes for the best flavor: Ataulfo or Champagne mangoes work especially well.
Sift your matcha before whisking to prevent clumps and achieve a smooth, frothy top.
Use the back of a spoon and pour slowly when layering to maintain clean lines between mango, milk, and matcha.
Adjust sweetness by adding sugar, honey, or simple syrup if needed, especially if your mango isn’t super sweet.
Add more or less matcha, according to your taste preference.
Substitutions
Try the matcha mango latte with oat, soy or almond milk for a dairy-free version.
Add chewy tapioca boba pearls to turn it into a fun bubble tea-style drink.
Swap in fresh pineapple or passion fruit purée for a refreshing twist.
Or add in mango jelly, or lychee jelly.
