Ingredients you'll need
- jasmine green tea: tea bag or loose-leaf
- hot water: 85°C / 185°F for brewing the tea and matcha
- matcha: use a high-quality matcha for the best flavor and color
- jasmine syrup: or other sweetener, such as simple syrup, honey
- ice cubes
How to make matcha jasmine tea
Prepare jasmine tea:
Steep the jasmine tea bag in hot water for 3-5 minutes. Remove the tea bag and let the tea cool to room temperature (or chill in the fridge).
Alternatively, you can make a cold brew tea the night before.
Prepare matcha:
Sift the matcha powder into a bowl.
Add hot water and whisk with a bamboo chasen or handheld frother until smooth and frothy.
Assemble:
Fill a tall glass with ice.
Pour in the cooled jasmine tea.
Gently pour the whisked matcha on top to create a layered look.
Add jasmine syrup (or sweetener) to taste, if desired.
Stir before sipping.

Variations
Add a splash of yuzu juice or sparkling water for an iced matcha yuzu.
Swap jasmine tea with genmaicha for a different, roasted rice flavor.
Add carbonated sparkling water for a refreshing tea soda vibe.
Shake the beverage with ice for a shaken iced tea.

- ½ C hot water 85°C / 185°F
- OR ½ C cold brew jasmine tea
- 1 teaspoon matcha sifted
- ¼ C hot water 80°C / 175°F
- 1-2 teaspoon jasmine syrup or simple syrup (or other sweetener such as honey), to your taste
- ice cubes
