What is hojicha?
Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that has been roasted over high heat, giving it a distinctive toasty, nutty flavor and a lower caffeine content compared to regular green tea.
Its smooth and mellow profile makes it ideal for pairing with milk or fruity flavors.

Ingredients you'll need
- ripe fresh mango: diced, or you can use mango puree
- hojicha tea powder: or brew hojicha tea using loose leaf
- hot water: for brewing the tea
- milk: of your choice
- sweetener: optional, dependent on how sweet your mango is
- ice
Where to find?
You can find hojicha powder online and in specialty tea shops.
How to make a hojicha mango latte
Add finely diced fresh mango to a serving glass.
Sprinkle sugar (if using) over the mango, give it a stir and let it sit for about 5 minutes.
Next, add some ice to the glass.
Pour the milk over the ice.
In a small bowl or jar, add the hojicha powder and pour in the hot water.
Use a whisk or electric frother until the hojicha is incorporated and becomes frothy.
Carefully pour the hojicha over top of the milk.
Stick in a straw, give it a stir and enjoy immediately.

How to serve
Serve the hojicha mango latte with snacks such as mango cream mochi, mango cream pancakes, or Korean matcha mochi bread.
Expert tips
Use canned mango purée for convenience, especially if fresh mangoes aren’t in season.
Add a scoop of tapioca pearls (boba), lychee jelly or mango jelly for an extra treat.

For accuracy and precision in baking recipes, use weight (metric) measurements when available.
Ingredients
- ½ C fresh mango about 100g finely diced into small pieces; or mango puree
- 1-2 tablespoon granulated sugar or to your taste; also dependent on how sweet your mango is
- ice
- ½ C milk of your choice or non-dairy alternative
- ¼ C hot water about 175°F/80°C
- 1-2 teaspoon hojicha powder sifted
Instructions
