Ingredients

Main:

  • 1 smoked duck breast pre-cooked

For the buns:

  • 1 tablespoon butter for toasting buns
  • 2 burger buns brioche or soft rolls preferred

Hoisin glaze:

  • 1 teaspoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

Toppings/condiments:

  • mayo/aioli
  • lettuce arugula or mixed greens
  • tomato slices
  • red onions
  • pickles

Instructions

Prepare the duck:

  • Gently warm the smoked duck breast in a frying pan or oven (bake at 350°F/177°C for about 10 minutes).
  • After warming, let the duck rest for a few minutes, and slice against the grain.

Toast the buns:

  • Lightly butter and toast the buns on a skillet until golden. Remove from heat and set aside.

Make the glaze:

  • In a small bowl, combine hoisin sauce, maple syrup and Chinese five-spice powder. Give it a good stir.

Assemble the burger:

  • Layer the bottom bun with mayo/aioli, lettuce/mixed greens, slices of smoked duck, hoisin glaze, and your favorite toppings.
  • Add the top bun and serve immediately.
