Earl Grey Hot Chocolate

1 C whole milk or non-dairy alternative 2 Earl Grey tea bags or 2 teaspoon looseleaf 1 tablespoon cocoa powder 50 g dark chocolate chopped 1-2 tablespoon granulated sugar to your taste ¼ teaspoon earl grey extract ⅛ teaspoon bergamot oil optional ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract optional
In a saucepan, heat 1 C milk until scalding hot (don't boil).
Remove from heat and steep the Earl Grey tea bags in the hot milk for 4-5 minutes.
Remove and discard the tea bags/tea leaves.
To the heated milk tea, add cocoa powder, chopped chocolate, and sugar.
Heat gently over medium heat, whisking until smooth and fully melted. Do not boil.
Remove from heat and add in earl grey extract, bergamot oil and vanilla extract (if using).
Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream, a dusting of cocoa powder, or grated chocolate.
Serve warm.
