Ingredients

  • 1 C whole milk or non-dairy alternative
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags or 2 teaspoon looseleaf
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 50 g dark chocolate chopped
  • 1-2 tablespoon granulated sugar to your taste
  • ¼ teaspoon earl grey extract
  • teaspoon bergamot oil optional
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, heat 1 C milk until scalding hot (don't boil).
  • Remove from heat and steep the Earl Grey tea bags in the hot milk for 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove and discard the tea bags/tea leaves.
  • To the heated milk tea, add cocoa powder, chopped chocolate, and sugar.
  • Heat gently over medium heat, whisking until smooth and fully melted. Do not boil.
  • Remove from heat and add in earl grey extract, bergamot oil and vanilla extract (if using).
  • Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream, a dusting of cocoa powder, or grated chocolate.
  • Serve warm.
