Durian Coffee

This recipe for Durian Coffee combines the rich, sweet creaminess of durian with the bold intensity of strong espresso.

Ingredients

Durian cream:

  • 30 g freeze-dried durian or fresh/frozen durian
  • 60 ml heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Make the durian cream:

  • Add freeze-dried durian to a spice grinder or food processor and blitz until it becomes a fine powder. Set aside.
  • Use an electric frother (or whisk) to whip up the heavy whipping cream until medium peaks.
  • Fold in the pulverized durian powder into the whipped cream until well-incorporated.

Assemble:

  • Add shots of espresso (or strong coffee) to a serving glass.
  • Fill the glass with ice.
  • Pour in ½ C of milk.
  • Top with the durian cream.
  • Stick in a straw, give it a stir and enjoy immediately.

Notes

For a cold foam version: add in 2 tablespoon whole milk to the heavy cream and whip to soft peaks.
