Black Sesame Bostock

Ingredients

Black sesame frangipane:

  • 30 g unsalted butter
  • 40 g granulated sugar
  • 24 g almond flour
  • 32 g black sesame powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 6 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt

Garnish:

  • 4 teaspoon flaked almonds
  • 2 teaspoon powdered sugar

Instructions

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Place the slices of bread onto the baking tray. Set aside.

Black sesame frangipane:

  • In a bowl, combine butter and sugar with a fork.
  • Mix in almond flour, black sesame powder, egg and flour.
  • Stir in vanilla extract, almond extract and salt.

Assemble:

  • Lightly brush simple syrup onto each slice of bread.
  • Divide the frangipane mixture evenly onto the slices of bread.
  • Top with flaked almonds.
  • Bake at 375°F/191°C for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden in color.
  • Remove from oven and let cool on the baking tray for 5 minutes.
  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
